With parts of Australia crippled by one of the worst droughts in recent years your Club has been active in helping in any way we can to support our Aussie farmers.
Once again our staff and members came together and came up with ideas on how to get the fund raising “ball rolling” and there was no holding them back.
We kick started the campaign with the Parma for a Farmer event where a $5 donation was made for each Parma sold, this was followed by a full day of fun and entertainment where we donated $1 from every main meal, a $1 from every schooner sold. All proceeds from raffles and bingo were donated and a number of staff and members generously donated prizes to assist with our raffles which resulted in lots of additional prizes up for grabs, we almost doubled ticket sales for the day.
The THBC bowls Committee not only made a generous cash donation they also donated all proceeds from the days play to the event. The Staff joined in the fun and made a gold coin donation to dress as a farmer and Bob Mildren entertained the crowd from the level one stage, everybody dug deep and donated generously. It was a huge success with over $15,000 donated to the nationwide BUY A BALE campaign. This amount will purchase a large semi-trailer load of hay and over 150 food hampers for struggling families – Congratulations and thank you to everyone who supported this event.
